Jupiter sits at the top of Palm Beach County where the coast changes character: lower, greener, more oriented to the water as something to use than to look at. The Loxahatchee River and the Jupiter Inlet give it genuine boating that runs inland as well as out to sea, and the golf here — Medalist, Admirals Cove, Jupiter Island's clubs to the north — has drawn a professional-athlete and executive population that keeps the market year-round. It is the least formal of the county's serious addresses, which for a substantial number of buyers is the reason to be there.
Jupiter sits at the northern end of Palm Beach County, built around an inlet, a river and a long stretch of beach. It is more coastal town than resort — boating, golf and the water are the organising facts, and the pace is noticeably slower than the coast further south.
The housing is mostly single-family, in a mix of waterfront neighbourhoods, golf communities and inland developments, with a smaller number of condominium buildings near the beach. Much of the stock is newer than the older coastal towns to the south.
It draws families and buyers looking for space and water access without the density of the southern county, accepting a longer drive to Miami in exchange. For anyone who boats, the inlet access is a large part of what makes the town work.
